Scanning Prices

Please bookmark our website so you can easily find us again.

Below are our scanning (digitizing) prices.  There is a $10 minimum order.

You can order HERE.

Read a simple explanation about ordering HERE.

The prices will be honored for 30 days after the order is placed. If we do not receive the items you want scanned within the 30 day period, the prices may increase.

To prevent fake orders, you only need to pay $10 towards the return S&H upfront. Pay the rest after our services are complete.

  • If $10 upfront worries you, go to Order Process, scroll down and read all of #2.

Digital ICE:  Please keep in mind that Digital ICE dust and scratch correction does not work with printed photos, black and white negatives, black and white slides or Kodak Kodachrome. You will need to sort those out from the others and group them together. Dust and scratch correction for those photos will need to be done by someone with photo editing software later. We recommend you add the TIF file (48-bit Color) to your order because it's the best file format for photo editing. You can read more about Digital ICE HERE.

TIF files:  JPG file format (24-bit color) is included in the prices below. If you also want the original TIF file scanned at 48-bit Color, add 5¢ per scanned item.

What are JPG and TIF file formats?

Scanning Service + USB Flash Drive or DVD + Return S&H + Tax (in Michigan) = Total Price (no surprise costs)

There is a $2 fee for each scanning group that has less than 24 items.  Avoid this by combining small groups.

Storage Media

[you receive your digital image files on this (not a movie)]

The total number of DVDs needed and/or the size of the USB Flash Drive needed depends on the total data size of the scanned digital images.  That size can be estimated (information HERE), but the actual total size will not be known until the scanning and corrections are complete.

IMPORTANT Note:  After you receive your order, we recommend that your copy all of the scanned digital image files to at least one additional device for backup (other storage media, computer, etc.).

  • DVD Storage (not a movie). One DVD holds 4.3GB of scanned digital image files. The cost is $5 for each DVD needed to store your scanned digital image files. DVD(s) for archiving should last 30-70 years if stored properly (although, will there still be DVD players?). All digital image files copied to the DVD are completely verified to be identical to the original before we send them to you.
  • USB Flash Drive Storage. USB flash drives can plug into most computers, smart TVs and some DVD players. The scanned digital image files will be stored and mailed to you on a USB Flash Drive.  The cost for a 16GB USB flash drive is $9, larger USB Flash drives are available. Digital files stored on USB flash drives (thumb drives) are not recommended for long term archiving. Your photos will last on a new unused USB flash drive for a maximum of about 10 years if stored properly. Realistically though, it would probably be a lot less.

Printed Photo Scanning

[Scroll down for slide, negative and positive film prices]

(we do not print photos)

We scan photos, that have already been printed, into digital images using a flatbed scanner.

There are many companies that can print photos from the digital images we will provide you.

We accept photo albums (no additional charge).  We also scan clippings, cards, child's artwork, letters, etc.  Prices are per digitized item up to 8.5" by 11", color or black and white.

If you group your photos, please make groups 24 photos or more (we prefer more).  There is a $2 fee for each scanning group that has less than 24 items.  You can avoid this by combining small groups.  We will scan the small groups in the order you indicate.

You can read about PPI resolution HERE.

For more information about PPI resolution and our printed photo scanning, go to Digitizing Services.

Note: The price per printed photo digitized at each price level is for all of the printed photos digitized in the order. Example: If your order is to digitize 200 printed photos at 600ppi, the price for each printed photo digitized would be 59¢ x 200 slides = $118.

Printed Photo Flatbed Scanning Prices:

  • 600ppi resolution
    • 1 to 24 photos = 89¢ per photo

    • 25 to 49 photos = 81¢ per photo

    • 50 to 74 photos = 73¢ per photo

    • 75 to 99 photos = 65¢ per photo

    • 100 or more photos = 59¢ per photo

  • 1200ppi resolution

    • 1 to 24 photos = 99¢ per photo

    • 25 to 49 photos = 91¢ per photo

    • 50 to 74 photos = 83¢ per photo

    • 100 or more photos = 69¢ per photo

PREMIUM Slide Scanning

(photo slides)

We scan slides into digital images.

There are many companies that can print photos from the digital images we will provide you.

We do not remove the film from the mount (frame).

We may need to make a small mark, with a pencil, on some slide mounts for sorting or orientation purposes. This will not affect the photo in any way.

Prices are per digitized slide, color or black and white.

If you group your slides, please make groups 24 slides or more (we prefer more).  There is a $2 fee for each scanning group that has less than 24 slides.  You can avoid this by combining small groups.  We will scan the small groups in the order you indicate.

You can read about PPI resolution HERE.

For more information about PPI resolution and our slide scanning, go to Digitizing Services.

For all Premium Slide Scanning, our service includes the following:

  • When price checking, please keep in mind that many companies charge extra for services we include at no additional cost.
  • We accept loose slides, slides bundled in rubber bands, slides in plastic zipper bags, etc. (see Packing Tips).
  • We accept slides in projector carousels, trays, cubes, protective sheets, etc. at no additional charge.  We will pull the slides out, scan them in the sorted order arrived in and put them back in the same sorted order.
  • Right now, our turnaround time is about 5 weeks (large orders may take longer).
  • Determining the Front of the slide so the scanned digital image is facing the proper direction.
  • Determining the proper orientation of the slide. We rotate the scanned digital image so that the correct side is up.
  • Cleaning loose dust, hair, fibers, etc. off both sides of each individual slide (there's more there than you probably think).
  • Scanning the slides in the sorted order you provide.
  • Keeping the slides sorted in the order they were scanned.
  • We crop each image as needed.
  • Optional Digital ICE dust and scratch removal for your images. If you want Digital ICE, it's free. Just add it to your cart when placing your order (if you don't add it to your order Digital ICE will not be used). Digital ICE does not work with Kodachrome or black and white slides. You can read about Digital ICE HERE.
  • The Original scanned digital image, without any corrections, in the JPEG file format. Color correction, brightness and contrast are subjective. It's good to have this file in case you want someone to correct the image differently at some point in the future.
  • An Adobe® Photoshop® Corrected digital image in the JPEG file format. All of the following corrections are professionally performed by a real person using Adobe® Photoshop® image-editing software After the slide has been scanned, we look at each image individually and correct them as needed (Adobe® Photoshop® does a much better job than the standard scanner software).
    • Color Correction. This works great for slides in good condition and slides that have had colors fade away resulting is the slide looking mostly red, blue, purple, green, etc. (we try to make every image look better than the original).  Please note: Color correction does not work well in extreme cases where most of the colors have faded away resulting in a slide that looks mostly red, green or blue.  This happens to some film over time.  With these slides, we will give you a black and white digital image of the slide in addition to the original scanned digital image. The color in the original scanned digital image can be recreated by a photo restoration service later.
    • Brightness Correction. Please note: If the original photo is extremely over-exposed or under-exposed (extremely light or dark), we will attempt to get it to look properly exposed, but please keep in mind that it will not look as good as if it were properly exposed when the photo was taken.
    • Contrast Correction.
    • Red-eye removal.
  • Creating folders for each group of slides.
  • Naming the folders with the names you provide or we can give them generic names for you.
  • Putting the scanned digital images into folders.

Common 2"x2" Mount Premium Slide Scanning:

This slide scanning category is for all common 2-inch by 2-inch mount (frame) slides. For slide mounts that measure more or less than 2" x 2", see "Uncommon Mount Slide Scanning" below.

Tip: Most people choose 2400ppi resolution (read about PPI HERE). If you think you may want 4800ppi for some of the slides, but you're not sure which ones, you can get them all scanned at 2400ppi now. After you look through the digital images, if there are some you want scanned at 4800ppi, you can get those individual slides scanned again. You would be paying to scan those slides twice, but it may be a lot cheaper than getting them all scanned at 4800ppi the first time.

You can read about PPI resolution HERE.

For more information about PPI resolution and our slide scanning, go to Digitizing Services.

Note: The price per slide digitized at each price level is for all of the slides digitized in the order. Example: If your order is to digitize 11,000 2"x2" mount slides at 2400ppi, the price for each slide would be 31¢ x 11,000 slides = $3410.
